Preparing For Your Exam

Most exams can last 30-45 minutes. If you have more than one exam scheduled, that will add to your overall time in our clinic.

MRI, CT, and X-Ray:
Please refrain from wearing clothing with excess amounts of metal. You will be asked to remove all metal from your person (i.e. earrings, watches, hair clips, etc.). Lockers are provided for all personal items. We also provide clothes that you can change into for your exam. No fasting will be required.
Ultrasound:​

Abdominal Ultrasound: For any abdominal ultrasounds you will be required for fast for 8 hours prior to your exam. For an
Pelvic Ultrasound: For any pelvic or renal exam, you will be required to have a full bladder.
Echocardiogram: For an Echocardiogram you will need to refrain from any stimulants prior to your exam, such as coffee, energy drinks, etc. You may take your prescription medications as directed.
Prescribed Medications
You may take your prescription medications as directed.

Spinal Injections
For all spinal injections, a driver is required post-procedure.
I.V. Contrast Examinations
Patients that are over 60 years old, diabetic, and/or have kidney problems may need laboratory tests 48 hours prior to an exam. Please contact us at 907-373-3700 for additional information.
Access to Images
Your healthcare provider will receive a faxed report from our radiologists and will review the results with you during your next appointment with them.
Claustrophobic or Anxious Patients
Our 3T MRI unit has a bigger bore giving more room for the patient inside the machine. Depending on your level of claustrophobia and/or anxiety, you may want to discuss medication options with your medical provider before your appointment. We do not provide prescription medication to patients.
Length of Appointments
Most exams take 1 hour. If you are having multiple exams, such as a knee and hip, then the exam would take approximately 2 hours.
Insurance and Payment
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans or types and we honor in-network co-pays. We are in-network with Premera, Aetna, and Cigna. We will obtain prior authorization to ensure that your insurance is notified and approves your clinician referral.
